Curacao Casino License
Curaçao is an island in the southern Caribbean Sea and used to be a part of the Netherlands Antilles. Curaçao is one of the first countries that became an iGaming jurisdiction with the Curacao license available. This was well before Curaçao gained the status of a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 2010. Many operators were in the possession of a Curaçao casino license.
One of the first iGaming jurisdictions
For a long time, Curaçao was recognized as one of the preferred iGaming jurisdictions for online gambling operators. Curaçao started to regulate online gambling in 1996, when still part of the Netherlands Antilles. It’s since then Curaçao steadily developed into one of the more popular jurisdictions for online casino operators.
It was in 2002, when the regulation of internet gaming separated from the Curaçao Gaming Control Board, online gambling became a central industry for the island. Curaçao provides iGaming Licenses and IP (Information Provider) compliance services to qualified operators.
Curaçao is one of the first iGaming jurisdictions to regulate online gambling. However, Curaçao lost ground and many operators moved their operations elsewhere. Currently, over 200 iGaming companies operate from this Caribbean jurisdiction with a Curacao license. Online gambling is still one of the largest industries on the island.
The Curacao Internet Gambling Association
The CIGA, Curaçao Internet Gambling Association, strives to work on behalf of its member companies. All of these member companies agree to abide by a code of conduct that ensures compliance with all licensing requirements, and also general principles of good business.
eGaming Licencing authority
The Curaçao Department of Justice has designated the Curaçao eGaming Licensing Authority to be the master licensing authority in Curaçao.
The Curaçao casino license
Curaçao offers only one iGaming license type covering all forms of interactive online gambling including: Casinos, Sports betting, Exchanges, Lottery, Games of Skill and Chance. It’s this convenience that attracts operators to the Caribbean jurisdiction as there’s no need to apply for various types of online gambling licenses.
