Ozzy Osbourne Facts

NetEnt Rocks slots series

In 2016, NetEnt celebrated its 20 years of existence. With that also 20 years of innovation. To celebrate the occasion, NetEnt decided to come up with something new that would rock the casino world!

No sooner said than done, NetEnt indeed managed to rock the iGaming industry with its NetEnt Rocks Trilogy. Throughout 2016 NetEnt launched a series of video slots, not only inspired by rock artists but also created in cooperation with the artists, their record company or family.

NetEnt welcomed Guns N’ Roses, Jimi Hendrix, and Motörhead to the NetEnt Casinos in 2016 but it was in 2019 that another legend joined the rock party!

Ozzy Osbourne’s controversial life has baffled, amazed, and repelled audiences for decades and NetEnt hoped to do the same to its audience by launching the Ozzy Osbourne™ slot.

That’s how the Godfather of Heavy Metal, the Prince of Darkness, made it to the esteemed NetEnt Rocks series, offering a game that’s not for the faint-hearted as we’re talking about a heavy-metal themed game.

A few stories to tell

The Ozzy Osbourne slot fits the music of Ozzy Osbourne perfectly, as well as his reputation. Take the bat, for example, which flies against your screen. Oh trust me, we can only be happy that NetEnt didn’t use the actual story behind that bat as it happens to be in 1982. It was during a concert in Des Moines, Iowa, that Ozzy Osbourne stuck a bat in his mouth….and chomped down hard.

In the defence of Ozzy Osbourne, I have to mention that he thought it was a toy bat. But the event became unfortunate for Ozzy when it appeared to be a real bat. A 17-year old concertgoer brought it (dead) in a bag and threw it on stage. This resulted in Ozzy visiting the hospital for some anti-rabies shots.

There’s also no dove on the reels. Also unexpected, considering the fact that he bit the head of one after he signed a deal to start his solo career.

According to Osbourne, he had gone to the meeting with CBS Records with several doves hidden in his pockets with the intention of letting them go once he’d signed the deal. Totally intoxicated, he then – in true Osbourne style – forgot his original plan and decided to bite one dove’s head off after which he spit the head onto the table!

Let’s not hope Ozzy burns your money as he burned some $200,000 by setting off fireworks in the hallway of a hotel he and his first band Black Sabbath were staying while on tour. He didn’t burn it literally, but he did burn the hallway and this prank did cost him $200,000.

But it all started in…

1948…the year John Michael Osbourne was born in Birmingham, England where he got the nickname “Ozzy” while he was in primary school.

When he was 15, Ozzy dropped out of school. To support himself, he took a variety of jobs. As a plumber, labourer, horn-tuner, and toolmaker, but he wasn’t made for all of this. So he decided to post an ad inside a Birmingham music shop reading “Ozzy ZIG needs a gig – has own PA”. The story goes that he was then contacted by the members of Black Sabbath who he joined to rise to prominence in the 70s.

Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath with Ozzy Osbourne as the lead vocalist were together for 10 years. During their time together, many buckets of water ended up in the audience, but even more albums were sold. In total, Osbourne’s albums, whether they are his own or with Black Sabbath, have sold over 100 million copies. Not a bad result of posting an ad in a music shop!

In 1979, the other members of Black Sabbath decided it was enough. Ozzy was too hard to handle and fired the Prince of Darkness. After this event, he fell into a big black hole.

It was his future wife that promised to represent him during his solo career. To get him back on track again, as far as this was even possible.

What followed was a successful solo career, during which he released 11 studio albums. The first seven albums were all awarded multi-platinum certifications in the US. This led to his other nickname “Godfather of Heavy Metal”!

I’m not a big fan of the Osbournes, but we can’t go around his fame. Besides being a legendary rock artist, Ozzy is also known as the main character in the reality show The Osbournes. The TV show features the domestic life of himself, as well as his family.

It was in the early 2000s, Ozzy Osbourne became a reality television star, appearing as himself in the MTV reality show The Osbournes, alongside wife and manager Sharon, and two of their three children, Kelly and Jack.

Betting options

There’s nothing controversial about the betting options as there’s nothing more than just 20 fixed bet lines, 5 levels to choose from, as well as six different coin values.

I think this video slot will mainly attract those who enjoy hard rock and heavy metal music. But anyone who appreciates a minimum bet of 0.20 can find themselves playing the Ozzy Osbourne™ slot. And if you want to play Ozzy-style, you can go for the maximum bet of 100.00.

Ozzy Osbourne™ slot features

NetEnt has worked closely together with the living legend which resulted in original sounds from the Prince of Darkness. This definitely helps to set the atmosphere, but of course, we’ll find the prince himself everywhere on the reels. The highest paying symbols show four different expressions of Ozzy. A raven, skull, cross and rose are among the other symbols.

In the background, you hear Ozzy performing Crazy Train, Mr Crowley, Diary of Madman, and Bark at the Moon. Enjoy the performance, as well as innovative video slot features.

You experience Re-Spins and Free Spins with the action-packed Symbol Charge Up. You can also activate a Bonus Bet at all times.

Let me start with this latter as it is highly recommended to play with the Bonus Bat, I mean Bet, as this can cause Re-spins, Free Spins and overall wins to appear faster. More Free Spins can be activated and the Multiplier during Free Spins can go up from x2 and x3 to x5 and x7.

During the Re-spins and Free Spins, it’s the Symbol Charge Up that will be making sure you’re having an electrifying time on the reels in the Ozzy Osbourne™ slot. Before a Re-Spin and before each Free Spin, the Symbol Charge Up feature will be awarding one or several features such as a Coin Win, Wild symbol, Multiplier or a symbol Upgrade. First, the Symbol Spinner will define the symbol after which it’s the Feature Spinner that defines the feature applied to the selected symbol.

Re-spins can be activated with two Scatters appearing on the reels 1, 3 or 5 in the main game while 3 Scatter symbols appearing on the same reels will be triggering Free Spins although this feature will also be activated when a Scatter symbol appears on the Feature Spinner during a Re-spin.

Combining an electrifying video slot with a true rock legend is asking for shocks! But it’s Ozzy Osbourne so how much more shocked can we be when it gets to this legend?
