A true pirate, living beneath the waves in NetEnt’s conserved coral reef, Long John Scissorhand is keeping himself busy raiding the reefs. He is welcoming you to his reef where he shows you his world and what it means to be a reef raider and a pirate!
With its 7×7 raster, the Reef Raider™ slot is different from the usual NetEnt slots. Like the Aloha™ slot and Shangri La™ slot which both offer the Cluster Pays mechanic. Reef Raider™, however, isn’t an official Cluster Pays slot, but winning combinations are formed by clusters with also the famous Avalanche™ feature available.
Welcome to Long John’s reef
While reefs all around the world are in great danger because of tourism and climate change, it’s NetEnt’s coral reef that’s still as colourful as a reef should be.
You’re invited to see the colourful world of NetEnt’s very own reef raider. You find him in a shallow sandy pool beneath the waves. He’s a true pirate, but you might see a rum-coloured crustacean in him! He’s always there, waiting for you to come and see what he’s up to in his own water world.
You might consider him dangerous, though! You better don’t! Okay, he has a scissorhand and one hand a hook, but it’s still worth meeting him. Don’t let him confuse you either with his peg leg and his one eye covered! He looks like a pirate and even acts like one, but it’s all in your advantage. He’ll be glad to raid the reefs in order to award you with the best slot treasures!
Opening the Reef Raider™ slot, you see Long John Scissorhand at the beginning of a trail. A treasure trail! This is what this sea-themed video slot is all about.
The trail lies in the depths of the beautiful coral, with in every corner of the treasure trail, one of four items. There’s the anchor, W coin, a treasury, and a canon. Keep reading to find out what slot features are waiting for you beneath the waves.
NetEnt’s video slots used to offer different coin values and levels to get to a bet. The newer slots, however, offer a certain number of bets with different values to choose from. One click on the coin for all the options, one click on the bet you want to play with, and you can press spin.
In the Reef Raider™ slot, you can start with a minimum bet of 0.20. That’s higher than average for a feature-packed slot. The maximum bet is 100.00.
Reef Raider™ slot features
In the Reef Raider™ slot, clusters formed in the 7×7 grid are responsible for payouts. A minimum of 5 adjacent symbols awards a cluster win. A cluster win also triggers the ever-popular Avalanche™ feature.
Bonus symbols can appear on the reels, but slot features can also be activated with the Treasure Trail and during Free Spins.
In the main game, you find several bonus symbols that are responsible for the activation of several slot features. The first one is the Wild symbol, while Multipliers can multiply your winnings from clusters.
Multiplier Symbols that land horizontally or vertically adjacent to a winning cluster multiply that win by its value: x2, x3, x5, or x50.
Clam Wild Symbol
Activates when a cluster forms and contains at least 3 medium win or low win symbols. Thanks to the Avalanche feature, a cluster win disappears from the play area. A Clam Wild symbol will then appear in place of one of the removed symbols before the Avalanche.
Wild Coin Symbol
Wild Coin symbols can appear on the reels in the main game and in the Free Spins feature when the Random Wilds Feature or the Cannon Blast feature is activated.
New in this sea-themed slot is the treasure trail that runs around the video slot. It shows 15 bars and, on each corner, a special symbol. Each time you have a cluster win, a Clam Wild appears. Then, when a new cluster is formed with the Wild involved, one trail bar becomes pink.
The more trail bars get charged, the further the pirate reef raider moves along the treasure trail. Every three bars, he finds a special symbol for you to activate a special slot feature:
Anchor Drop Feature
When Long John Scissorhand reaches the first special symbol, he activates the Anchor Drop feature. When this feature activates, in the main game or in Free Spins, 1 to 3 different symbols are randomly chosen. And all matching symbols are then removed from the play area.
Random Wilds Feature
It’s after 6 trail bars that the Random Wilds feature activates. When the Random Wilds feature activates, 4 to 8 Wild Coin symbols fall randomly on the reels.
Mystery Chest Feature
Long John Scissorhand awards the Mystery Chest feature at 9 charged bars. During the Mystery Chest feature, in the main game or in Free Spins, 2 to 16 symbols on the reels are replaced with Mystery symbols.
Cannon Blast Feature
When the reef raider reaches 12 charged bars, it’s time for the Cannon Blast feature. A random symbol is removed from the play area. This along all the medium win and low win symbols in the same row and column as the random symbol. Clam Wild symbols, Wild Coin symbols, and Multiplier symbols cannot be removed in the Canon Blast feature.
When you reach the end of the treasure trail, after 15 or more bars are charged, you reach the Free Spins feature. You receive 13 Free Spins.
Reef Raider™ Free Spins feature
In the Free Spins feature, you receive an extra Free Spin when Long John Scissorhand reaches the end of the trail.
Meanwhile, the Mystery Overlay feature activates as well. 5 Mystery symbols will appear on the reels as a cross in the middle of the play area.
Mystery symbols are revealed to form a winning cluster. The position of the initial cluster of Mystery symbols might appear randomly on the reels.
If the additional Mystery symbol is horizontally or vertically adjacent to one of the positions of the initial cluster of Mystery symbols, the additional Mystery symbol position becomes a part of the cluster. Just until Free Spins end when the Free Spins counter shows 0.
