The Spellcast™ slot entrances you with animated mysterious symbols such as the ancient wizard and the mythical magic crystal ball, perfect for if you’re into magic, spells or potions. Although the theme isn’t that scary, Netent tried its best to add some extra excitement to the video slot. The thrilling sounds played in the background and after a win is definitely part of that, making me think about the haunted house at a carnival. You could send me in the sky, while hanging upside down or drop me in one of those speedy attractions, but the haunted houses were just not my cup of tea. For some reason, they gave me the shivers. And that’s exactly what NetEnt is trying to accomplish with the Spellcast™ slot.
Magical NetEnt slot
The Spellcast™ slot is one of the older NetEnt video slots, designed in a time 3D graphics weren’t available yet. So don’t expect too much magic from the design as no cutting edge bonus game are involved. The symbols, though, so perfectly fit the theme, including typical wizards and spells related symbols as magic runs deeply through this NetEnt slot, just like in Wild Witches™, Magic Portals™ and Simsalabim™. This is mainly due to the wicked witch and hero wizard, both present on the reels while joined by spell books, castles, cauldrons and wands. Looking for a bit of magic in your life, while witnessing an epic battle between good and bad, you’re at the right place with the Spellcast™ slot.
Although NetEnt is giving you the option to adjust the amount of bet lines you’ll be playing with, I highly recommend you to play with all 20 bet lines activated. Following my advice you’ll be playing with a minimum bet of 0.40. Usually this would have been 0.20, but for some reason the 0.01 coin value is missing in Spellcast™. But no worries, 0.40 is a very reasonable minimum bet, still perfect for the low rollers. But if you rather play with higher bets, you can increase the bet levels up to four, just as the coin value. As I wrote before the 0.01 coin is missing, but with five different coin values left from 0.02 up to 0.50, there are still many betting options left. Dozens actually, starting from 0.40 up to a maximum of 40.00. It’s one of the lowest maximum bets a modern video slot designed by Netent is offering, but still high enough for the average type of players.
Magical NetEnt slot features?
If it’s not the graphics in the Spellcast™ slot that will do the job, I’m expecting a lot from the extra slot features, but even here I’m rather disappointed, to be honest. This can be explained by the fact I got pretty spoiled by NetEnt in the last few years in which newer video slots have been launched monthly. Because of this, there isn’t much to say about the Scatter wins, although they can go up to 500 times your total bet while being responsible for Free Spins too. When three or more of those scattered crystal balls appear anywhere on the reels, you’ll be awarded 15 Free Spins. During Free Spins, all winnings are tripled which can end up in some amazing wins especially when two or more Wilds are involved. Nice, though, but first you have to get this feature activated, and I didn’t manage while playing it, even not while playing with the maximum bet, and maybe the low theoretical payout of 96% has something to do with that?
Then what is making this NetEnt slot so different from other magical themed slots such as Simsalabim™ or Fortune Teller™? Why not going for a more innovative video slot as Magic Portals™. I don’t know, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t unless you like Wild symbols while being very patient. If so, you could wait until five or more Wild symbols appear on an active betline as a payout of 10.000 is attached to it. Meanwhile, this same Wizard Wild will substitute for all symbols except scatter symbols. A nice touch of this symbol is the x2 Multiplier attached to it meaning all winnings coming from Wild wins will be doubles. But that’s all there is for me to tell, even though I wish I could be more positive about the Spellcast™ slot, reminding me of the nostalgic haunted house flat out ignored during my carnival visits, and now again doomed to be ignored while playing at one of the NetEnt Casinos. Not the end of the world though as you will find enough magic playing Simsalabim™, Wild Witches™, Magic Portals™ and even in Fortune Teller™.
